Do you find that hospitals pay males nurse more than females?

Sorry about the delay in responding. I think that male nurses and female nurses earn the same level of income.

You have to keep in mind that hospitals employ hundreds of nurses. When any organization has a pool of employees, the entire staff generally is on the same payscale.

Obviously, hospitals would never descriminate, but I have heard hiring managers say that they prefer female staff members to male staff members because sometimes male clinicians need a female staff member in the room in certain circumstances.

For example, when I was recruiting ultrasound sonographers it female sonographers are preferred for gyno studies because male sonographers needed a female staff member to be in the room to prevent any unnecessary liability.

Hi I was wondering if you could help me. I'm a UK trained and based Paediatric Nurse who's been trying to apply to work in the States for over a year.

From what I understand no matter which state I wish to go to, I have to sit the NCLEX but before doing this I have to have my credentials assessed by the CGFNS - then they will say yes I can sit the NCLEX or no I can't. My problem is my training, I've been told in the past that because I'm not general trained, I won't be allowed to sit the NCLEX. However after much searching I found an American agency willing to take me on. We are trained differently as student nurses in the UK to the USA, we specialise half way through our training into the field we wish to work in, in my case, Paeds.

I'm currently waiting for the CGFNS response which seems to be taking forever! Can I do anything else to help my cause? I don't want to work in any other environment in which I'm trained to - I've been working in Neonates for 6 and a half years. Is there any other UK Paediatric nurses who have been through this? Half of my nurse training was general, does this affect things?

hi there

ill certainly teel you what i know about it although that may not be much. im with o grady peyton at present they have however commenced direct placements like adevia another agency. basically what happens is the hospitals have began to come over to london to recruit and interview directly. when you sign a contract with the hospital which also means slightly more pay per hour your contract with the agency is camcelled. the direct contracts i think are longer 24 months. and they also try and give you incentives for joining there hospital. im waiting to receive further information myself . when i do i will put in on the thread for you.

I am considering going to either the University of Southern Nevada or Touro University in Henderson Nevada. Neither of these programs are accredited yet because they must first graduate a class and recieve their nclex results. I know touro university has applied for accreditation from the ccne and might be accredited by the spring of next year. What are the difficulties in finding a job having graduated from a school that is unaccredited. Do you have any advice about going to either of these two schools

Hello!

I am looking to permanently relocate to Washington State. I am an LPN. I have just purchased an online program for my RN.

I have a Washington nurses license. I come from Southern Oregon.

Any direction or info you might provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

There is a shortage in Washington state, just like everywhere but Minnesota.

I have visited hospitals throughout the entire state of Washington. Seattle is a great place, but I encourage you to check out the smaller towns if you can handle being a few hours from the nearest Nordstrom.

Finding a job should be pretty simple, the trick is going to be finding a place where you will be personally and professionally happy.

If you are are a failure at finding personal/professional happiness, then the other usually follows quickly.

This is very important...DO NOT GO TO ANY NON-ACCREDITED SCHOOLS. If your school is not accredited, then chances are that there is no board of nursing that will ever issue you a license. Then all you will have is college loans, and a degree that means nothing.

The Recuiting Councilors will lie to to you to get you to enroll in their school, and say it is not a big deal...but I assure that it is a big deal.

Your future is on the line here. Unless you have the time and money to get your degree twice, I suggest you get a good degree the first time.

If you don't know who to believe, call the Board of Nursing in the State you eventually plan on working in, and ask them. They will tell you what schools they do and do not recogize.
