I have a friend who lives in Hawaii. He states food and lodging are expensive. I am considering doing travel there also. |

I did a 13 week assignment at Kapiolani Med. Center for Women and Children, back in 98. I loved being in Hawaii, and wanted to stay longer but came back to Fla b/c I got married... long story. Not having a car took some getting used to, but I used the bus which is not bad at all. I also walked everywhere I could, so I was in great shape. Most travelers are housed in an apt building on the mountain side of the Ali Wai canal, but I got lucky and was only 2 blocks from Waikiki Beach. I wished I had stayed longer, and I always want to go back, but I am too settled now. I say don't wait any longer, go for it!! |

I have wanted to go to Hawaii on an assignment. I get these companies that promise they have openings. They tell me to do their skill check list/ app. etc. Then they tell me there are no positions there. But would I be interested in someplace else... Bait and switch!! |

Do the travel com. pay for all the airfare to Hawaii? I was told by one company that I wouldn't want to go to Hawaii. As I would be stuck with a large airfare bill, and that the pay there is very low?? |

Hawaii is a bit tricky? You really have to want to come here in order to get here without a bit of luck. I took a job here in Honolulu. I do have a housing co-pay and I do have to work 40 hrs/week and hours are not guaranteed. Be prepared before you come. There is talk of many of the hospitals getting rid of travelers again. Don't know if it's true or just rumor. You gotta take the chance and try to get out here. It's amazing. |
