I am currently a travel nurse but am considering picking up some per diem shifts for extra money. Does anyone know if per diem is seasonal?

Depends on where you live. I live in Palm Springs and we get a lot of snow birds, therefore we have a much higher census during winter months which leads to seasonal per diem work. During the winter you could work 16 hr days 7 days a week if you wanted, during the summer even us regular staff nurses get our hours cut.

I have to say the flexibility and extra pay make per diem shifts very enticing. Does anyone know if you can pick up a per diem shift in all specialties? ER, Dialysis, NICU etc....
