Are there any nurses on here who live in Nevada? From what little research I've done, it should not be a problem transferring my Tennessee LPN license to Nevada. I was wondering if anybody can tell me about nursing in Nevada, especially the Vegas/Henderson area. I am with a private duty patient in his home right now. He is on a vent and has Lou Gerhig's. When he passes and I get the money together I desperately want to move.
I would probably want a nursing home job as I have gotten a little rusty with my med/surg skills, doing so much private duty. I have done correctional nursing in the past too, which I would consider in Nevada if the pay was tempting. I have noticed in some of the classifieds that some places are offering sign-on bonuses but mostly for RNs.
Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Tina,
I lived and worked in Las Vegas for 10 yrs. THe city is no longer inexpensive to reside in. It has been discovered and is "in" right now.
Go to: http://www.nursingboard.state.nv.us/ to get info on your licensure requirements. They require 30 ceu's a year.
St Rose Domninican Hospital in Henderson 2 hosp in the area. Contact them at 702-616-5000 for info.
Mountain View Hospital in Summerlin (25 miles north of Henderson) is a nice facility. Stay away from North Vista, Sunrise and Valley Hospitals. They are tough environments. |
