Hi everyone,
My name is Suzy and I just wanted to put my two cents in about nurse travel. I am currently working on my first travel assignment in Texas with Nursefinders. I decided to go with them because they have a ton of per diem branches and are a fairly new travel company. I think Goldman Sachs bought them. Anyways, I love my recruiter. She actually gave me her cell phone number to call her if I ever had an emergency. The pay is pretty good but I tend to want to be loyal to my recruiter. Is that bad? I know there are a ton of companies out there but I would love to hear feedback on Nursefinders. My first paycheck was sent to the wrong address but my recruiter paid the fedex fee out of her own pocket so I may be a lifer. What do you all think? Thanks in advance and I love this forum!!! |

I've never worked with NurseFinders, but be careful with a new company. They're usually still trying to get the kinks out in the first couple of years and you may suffer because of that. It's great that you like your recruiter though...that's SOOO important. Good luck with your assignment! |

I am thinking about my second assignment in a few weeks and almost fell off my chair when my recruiter called me from home yesterday(Saturday) with locations and pay rates etc. I know you have to be leery but I really love my recruiter AND this company. |

Most decent recruiters will give you their cell. Nursefinders isn't a new company & it is now part of National Healthcare Staffing. What you describe just sounds like the norm and nothing special; or, you are troll. Have seen you post this on other nurse forums. If you aren't a troll, then please don't get so attached to your recruiter-you have to maintain a business relationship, (just like you have to maintain a nurse-patient relationship)! In fact, I and many others, have found Nursefinders to be on the lower pay scale since overhead is high due to being part of the 3rd largest megacompany in the travel business.
By the way, what part of Texas? Texas, in general, pays very low. What are you getting in an hourly wage? I originally, through Nursefinders Travel division, was offered 28.00/hr for North Texas & negotiated the same job with another company for $36.00/hr. |

I have a few more weeks at my assignment in Austin. I chose to find my own housing so I am receiving a tax free stipend. The total hourly package is $42.33/hr. I thought that was pretty good. |

Most companies will pay the untaxed housing stipend separately than the hourly rate. For instance, regarding the package I discussed getting: $36.00/hour (14.00/hour untaxed per diem allowance, $22.00/hour taxed) with an additional untaxed housing allowance of $1350.00 per month (payed out weekly). Overtime rate is based upon the $36.00/hour.
When you separate the housing allowance from the hourly rate, you can maximize your untaxed per diem and know exactly your OT rate, you also bring home more net pay! |
